Current Events:
Several events of the 1950s have allowed America to be what we know it as today. From new inventions to the changing of world leaders, the landscape of today's world was molded by that of the 1950s. Classic moments, such as Elvis's performance of the Ed Sullivan Show, will live on in the minds of many. Even the influential Peanuts comic strip and the classic Cat in the Hat book will be kept alive by the children of America and stay close to their hearts.

1950- The first Peanuts cartoon comic strip was released.
1951- The first color television is available to consumers.
1952- The seatbelt was first introduced and utilized.
1953- Joseph Stalin dies March 5th at the age of 74.
1954- The first anti-smoking ad was officially released.
1955- Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat to a white person in Montgomery, AL, and leads to the Montgomery Bus Boycott
1556- Elvis performs on the Ed Sullivan television show and makes history with his performance of Hound Dog.
1957- Dr. Seuss writes and publishes the famous book: The Cat In The Hat.
1958- The first LEGOs are produced, which were in the form of large blocks.
1959- Fidel Castro officially takes power in the country of Cuba.
